within the scope of the Art-project. The Gänsemarktpassage offers the artist good conditions.
This is note- and praiseworthy for in times of tight public funds it gets ever more
difficult for artists to find suitable showrooms, in particular if they build objects
of that scale.

It is supposed to happen that artists have to pay for rooms for being
able to exhibit. But apart from the good conditions it´s also a good central place
and it tempted me immediately to manage this interesting room under the huge glassroof.
Because of that I will essentially not exihibt already existing objects - with one
exception - [Unitended Self-Destruction; 1990; 243 x 122 x 136;

- but for this room I designed and built a new work. The title is "calm belt segments".
In meteorology calm belts are called areas with frequent calms stretching
ringshaped around the earth. They stand for a planet-surrounding moment of pause in these
hectic times marked by accelaration. It´s a call to stop and think, also about the faith
in progress and the permanent availability of all things.
With that the object will in a way contrapuntally follow my earlier works to the parable of
the "Angel of History" by Walter Benjamin. [...]

Here as well, at my new work "calm belt segment", I remained true to my subject matter.
Here it is the objects of calm but they also contain already the possible storm.
In the middle of the activity of the city they seem to be a good contrast to me.
I am curious myself about which effect they will have in the Gänsemarktpassage.
